So Christina Warren and I got into this big debate over at TUAW.com about tipping applications. Christina thinks that they’ve been “done” and that Apple should put a moratorium on any more tip apps as “the over-saturation of these programs is a real negative for the App Store as a whole”.
As for me, I felt App Store could support any useful app that could make a place for itself. So that’s why there’s TiPPeR. I wrote that should any tip calculator prove itself novel and innovative, it could set itself apart and find an audience.
So here it TiPPeR and here’s your chance to give it a try. My goal was to build an app that was reasonably elegant and lent itself to the way people really tip — whether they want to tip before tax or after, using qualitative criteria or quantitative ones, with some fun little features to jazz it all up.

The crazy capitalization scheme in the name, by the way, comes from my need to have no descenders (letter bits below the line, as in “p” and “j”) because it was messing up the reflections. Plus the off-tint “e” in the current release is a nod to the logo on my personal website, ericasadun.com.
TiPPeR was a great deal of fun to write and I can’t wait to find out if you’ll like it as much as I do.
